SHELTER – SPOKEN WORD PROJECT
A group of boys from Newham schools worked with the super-gifted and inspirational duo, spoken word artist Inua Ellams and singer/artist Belle, to produce their own exciting spoken word pieces. The results were touching, funny, heartfelt and incredibly mature and articulate – a testament to the hard work of Inua, Belle and the boys involved.
The pieces went on to be shortlisted at the BBC/Poetry Society’s SLAMbassadors competition, and the boys were invited to meet Benjamin Zephaniah and Scroobius Pip at the awards.
The project was supported by Shelter’s Keys to the Future project.
